Today I decided to use the stroller (for the 2nd time ever & the 1st time alone) so that I could pick up diapers & pet food while we were out. The only downfall of babywearing is that you can't cart around as much stuff -- though oh my goodness it's easier to wear Gretchen than to stroll her.
Difficulty number one would be carrying the stroller down our stairs (we live on the 2nd floor) and then going back up for Gretchen. Our stroller is the Bertini which is kind of swank & kind of huge, so the trip down the stairs is mainly spent trying not to be crushed by it.
Walking downtown was nice -- hot! -- but nice. Thankfully there's a bit of a breeze.
Difficulty number two would be getting home & trying to carry Gretchen, diapers, pet food, my purse & the stroller up the stairs -- which I managed to do in two trips, believe it or not. Gretchen was sleeping & stayed asleep so I put her down & went back for the stroller. I heaved it up the front stoop & all the way up the stairs, sweating all the way (and only cursed once).

The sleepy little muffin.
There has GOT to be an easier way.
Our somewhat disgruntled superintendent has made it clear that we aren't allowed to keep it in the front hallway, which I would never want to do anyhow since she smokes like a chimney & I don't want the lingering smell of smoke seeping into our stroller. Ick. Really there is no place to store it other than inside our apartment at the top of all those stairs.

The swank beast.
I don't think I'll be taking the stroller out alone any time soon.
Phew.
Pass me an ice cold Coke Zero. Merci.

Mmm, I don't even mind this vice of mine. It's delightful ^_^
I hope it's nice & hot for you too!
I think about abandoning our stroller every time we take it out! What a pain!
I had this same problem and ended up getting a little clip-in stroller (sometimes called a snap-and-go). it only weighs a few pounds and folds up nice and small so you can put it in a closet. And I can clip the baby car seat in it, it just snaps in. Way easier than lugging her gargantuan stroller up and down stairs! I'm not sure if you have a baby car seat that is compatible with something like that, but mine saved my life!
try wearing her on the front and wearing a backpack on your back! it gets a little bulky at times, but dang, those wraps and mei tais don't have much storage room!
have you tried cherry coke zero? delicious!
the red fantastic: oh I have heard of those, I should see if I can find one around.
deanna: I did think about doing that, but it was just SO warm today I thought I might sweat to death!
thank God I live in a condo with a lift..anyway, look at the bright side, you're loosing kilos when doing that right? .. and the peaceful angel sleeping? adorable!!
Haha, true enough -- I'll be even stronger over time!
Wear the baby, get a wheelie bag for your stuff..... easier to get upstairs than a stroller and baby. Nice for baby too.
lol. lifting the double buggy we've got almost breaks my back!!! but so too does wearing both at the same time now .((
i'm working on a core body building plan!!
it's well worth persevering. i second the front wrap carry and rucksack.
