This Mama Wants To Be A Cloth Diapering Guru

That's right, ladies & gents. We're on a quest to be a full time cloth diapering family.

I've been using a few cloth diapers here & there, but I haven't quite made the transition to full time. We have six Sweet Cheeks & two gDiapers (I use cloth inserts instead of the disposable kind) & today I bought my first cover -- a Bummis Super Brite.

And so it begins.

There isn't a whole lot of selection in the downtown area where I usually do all of my shopping, but there are some really talented folks on Etsy that I've come across -- Essential Saltes Baby, Northern Baby, Winkydinks & Someday Sarah to name a few. Either way, I'm very excited to start creating my beautiful stash of cloth diapers.

For the past week or so I've been reading everything I can about the art of cloth diapering. Thankfully there are wonderful resources such as our "tweetup" last night on twitter. Every Monday night the cloth diapering wonders of the twitter world are meeting up to discuss all things cloth! Join us next Monday! (If you are unfamiliar with the whole "tweetup" concept, check out this post by Kim over at Dirty Diaper Laundry.)

Some fluffy bum flickr love.

Just look at how gorgeous those are! I'm already smitten.

Bit by bit I will learn it all!

...

Keep an eye out for more cloth diapering posts, including topics such as why I want to be a cloth diapering guru and my trials & tribulations as I find my cloth diapering rhythm.

Wetting & changing & washing, oh my!

CD'ing is so fun! You are inspiring me to write more about cloth diapers for my readers who may not have the information.

I will definitely be asking everyone for help along the way -- thank you for offering!

Shelly: would you be interested in writing a little guest post about cloth diapering? Maybe, how to get started, some tips, your favourites -- something like that?

I LOVE cloth diapers! It's addicting. My favorites were Blueberry Diapers.

I love those photos... fluff is so gorgeous! Thanks for the link, I had so much fun at the tweet up. I need to remember to go to the babywearing one as well. I am sort of a "go to" for my friends on cloth so if you have questions feel free to ask!

Yeah for cloth diapering!!! I'm due in October and can't wait to cloth diaper (and breastfeed for that matter...). I found a great free cloth diapering class in my city that helped a lot...maybe there's one near you?
Love your blog!

I never used cloth, but if I have more kids, I'm definitely open to the idea. I'm just horrified when I think of all those Huggies filling up the landfills...

Anyway, have you checked out the guest posts on cloth over at simplemom.net? She has some great tips!

how do you like g diapers? & what kind of cloth insert do you use? i was thinking about registering for some g diapers (i'd be using cloth inserts as well)

i'd love to start CD'ing right off the bat, but it just seems so overwhelming!

They aren't my favourite: they can be a little more leaky that other cloth diapers and you have to deal with the little plastic insert thing and then the cloth insert.
I'm not sure what brand my inserts are, I think I have a few from a company called Sweet Cheeks :)
