They'll Give Anyone A Licence

I was out walking with Gretchen in the sling this afternoon & as we crossed the street (at the crosswalk) a huge dump truck started turning & inched a little too close to comfort. I tried to get his attention, to make eye contact or SOMETHING, but he seemed to be looking past me at the person on the sidewalk behind me. I'm really not sure he saw us at all.

I stepped up my pace to make sure we were out of the way & saw the looks on the faces of drivers stopped at the light. Everyone looked confused & a little horrified.

I flailed my arms at the dump truck driver and made some sort of scared sound, but he still didn't notice us.

Unfourtunately the license plate was too dirty to read (which is illegal, is it not?) so I have no way of tracking down the lovely chap.

My heart hasn't pounded that hard in a while. Definitely a scary moment.

Eek! That's so scary, especially when you have a little kiddo along. So glad you escaped!

Oh my goodness! I'm glad you guys were okay and no harm came to either of you! Stink that you couldn't see the license plate. One some of the trucks here they have phone numbers on the back, with a message like "Let us know how our driver is driving"

Oh no! That happened to me once when I was pregnant, but fortunately it was a Beetle. It's so scary. I worry all the time about someone hitting us when we're out.

Mikki -- Merci!!

Elly -- Some of the big 18 wheelers have those sings on them I think!

JJ -- I feel like it happens SO often. I was actually IN someone's car when they nearly ran over three people at a crosswalk!
