Gretchen's very first birthday party was a smashing success! Family, friends, good eats, incredibly thoughtful presents & so much love.

She loved her first cake!!
After the commotion, she paused to read one of her new books...
... and settled in for some milk & a snuggle.
Thank you to everyone who made this day so wonderful. I know that we will look back and remember how meaningful and experience her first birthday was -- we feel so honoured to have family & friends who are so special, loving & ever present.
Thank you.

Happppppy Birthday! Awe, I love first birthday parties, they are so special. Congrats on 365 days of motherhood, too!
PS- Haley and I were deer watching tonight, thought of you guys :)
I have just been catching up on your blog....so many beautiful postings. I can't believe it's a year already, she is just so lovely with incredible parents. Congratulations to you for succeeding in being the mother you wanted to be. xx
May I request a short post on the loot she scored? Only because I want to see/hear about that Leia doll! And that sock monkey girl is adorable - and I think I spy one of those lovely "green" soft cloth dolls as well, unsure of the brand but I see them in Target over here in Australia and always smile when I see them :)
Ah!! The sweetness is overload! :)
I was imagining all the love that was in your house today; so wonderful to see the photos showcasing that love!
Oh my gosh - little G so happy with cake! And that photo of her reading the book amongst all her lovely loot. And I'm pretty sure I saw a black tutu on her in that video.
What a beautiful day! xox!
aw that makes my heart melt, much love xx
SO fun! What a great birthday party! Doesn't the time fly?!
oh the little picture of her nursing reminds me of lucia so much. ... she just comes right up for a bite ... i love it when she sits up and nurses.
what a happy day for baby! her cake looks delicious. i love that it was a healthier version of the typical birthday cake.

monster girl: yes! I can definitely do a little present post -- hopefully I can get that up while she naps at some point today!
caren: yes! she was definitely wearing her tutu for part of the party -- it's still a LOT to big for her tiny little body :) she still wears some 6-12 stuff :)
