I'm very happy to say that I got to spend some quality time with my beautiful Singer this week.
Remember the grey wrap sweater that I made last month for G? I've sewn up three more over the past several days and I'm happy to say that I'm getting much better at it already.
The first new wrap is very thick & warm, with a fleece lining, while the second is much lighter -- just a simple cotton.
I'm totally smitten with the owl fabric (an Etsy find) and the liner fabric, with the little hot air balloon pattern, coordinates perfectly. You can also see that I've done a tiny bit of patchwork on one of the front panels, which I'll admit was only necessary because I was running out of the main fabric, but I love how it turned out.
These 'notions' fabrics were so much fun to work with -- you may recognize those buttons from the Bodum cozy I crafted for my neighbour a little while ago.
It's a little hard to tell, but I also used a scallop type stitch on the bottom seam of this particular wrap, just to spice things up a little.
(The third wrap, which I forgot to photograph, was made for my friend's daughter. It was grey with a green/pink lining.)
Now, my head is swimming with ideas for patterns & fabric combinations. I've been experimenting with a few other projects as well, which I'll be sure to share soon. For now, it's off to sleep I go.

LOVE these! Beautiful with such fun fabrics! Really hoping I have a girl, I soo want to make some wrap/kimono type shirts and dresses!

Those are lovely, and the fabrics are beautiful! I love the wrap around style, and I bet it makes things easier for dressing a little one. Love seeing your crafting :)

Disenchanted -- Sadly the pattern asks that the items sewn from it NOT be sold, since the seller is an Etsyian herself. However, I am started to work with other patterns which I will be allowed to sell, and at some point hope to make my own patterns as well!!

You reckon a boy would suit this stuff? Would be cute as a hack around the house type thing in winter.
There is so many things i want to sew but I'm still missing my bobbin holder part to my machine :( so sad.
Lililly -- I think the wrap would totally suit a boy. If you check out the arms on the darker one you can see that I altered the arms a little to make them less flared, and I think it could definitely be worked for a boy! Little ZJ would be so cute in it!

I have always loved little wraps like this so much! And I am in LOVE with that owl/hot air balloon one. That owl fabric is so cute, and I don't know if you know this, but I kind of have a thing for hot air balloons. I LOVE THEM. I've even thought of getting a tattoo of a hot air balloon! Where did you find that fabric, if you don't mind me asking??
Oh, and I think these would be wonderful for a little boy. I can just imagine some really great fabrics and making a little sort of coat for a baby boy. I wish I had sewed a bit when Wes was a baby!
Oh those are so cute!! I wish I could sew, I really do. It was my goal this year, but after thinking long and hard about it- I just have way too much on my plate. I do admire the lovely things that other mothers make for their little ones though.

I did make Wes pajamas once, which were SO hard and drove me nuts!! BUT he STILL insists on wearing them even thought they are now too small for him and he still goes on and on about how they are one of his favorite things. :) I would love to try and make some more things for him, but it just seems harder to sew for older boys than for girls, you know?
